Skype with Adesola (Claims for Prior Learning) – Friday 24th November
I had a chat with Adesola this evening regarding the Claims for
Prior Learning that I need to submit. She explained that I should select at
least 7/8 areas of my professional practice as a dance teacher; thinking about
what they mean, how I learned them and how they are part of my practice. I need
to research existing literature on these areas of teaching and demonstrate how
my understanding fits with established thinking about each subject. I will
begin by writing a short summary of each area and the relevant
research/theories. I can then discuss them with Adesola (check I am on the
right track!) and select which areas I am going to develop into essays to
submit.
Adesola also clarified that these essays should be factual rather
than reflective like the Module 1 work. Their purpose is to demonstrate my understanding
of what I have already learned and what I already do in my practice.
The areas I have thought of so far are:
·
Differentiated learning
·
Talking to parents of students
·
Behaviour management
·
Use of mirrors in dance training
·
Use of visual resources
I very much welcome any other suggestions people have, please
comment below. I also plan to discuss this with my colleague who teaches dance
at the secondary school where I work. We deliver different dance genres and in
different settings but I think we probably share lots of ideas and practices.
